#Day#Short#Stories

Today, on 20 March 2015, people in Europe and the European part of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, large part of Siberia, Central Asia, and North Africa will have a possibility to observe a solar eclipse. In most areas, it will be only partial; it will start at different time, depending on the location, and will last from around hour to almost three hours. In Moscow it will start at 12:13 MSK, in London it will start at 8:25 GMT. In certain arctic regions the eclipse will be total or almost total. Total eclipses last around 5 minutes.

Please be careful and do not look at the Sun with your naked eyes, or you may severely damage your eyesight. Do not use optic devices, like amateur telescopes or binoculars without protective filters, or you may burn down your retina. Use dark optical filters, a piece of light-struck film or a piece of smoked glass.

The attached photo shows a partial solar eclipse of 2012. It was taken with the use of an optical filter.
